Elena Buchanan Transition Program
University College Community offers the Elena Buchanan Transition Program (EBTP) for prospective Rutgers nontraditional students. The EBTP is a non-credit collaborative program between the University College Community and the School of Arts and Sciences. It is designed to prepare nontraditional adult learners for the rigors of study at Rutgers University-New Brunswick. The courses meet twice a week for thirteen weeks during the fall and spring semesters, and three times a week for seven weeks during the summer session. The transition classes are taught by distinguished Rutgers University faculty from several departments. Specific subjects vary each semester but students can expect exposure to coursework in the humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences, as well as a unit on expository writing. In addition to the participation of the university faculty, EBTP participants have weekly interactions with the program's Academic Coordinator, who leads discussion and aids the class in development of critical study skills. Participants are encouraged to analyze the way they read, write, and study and develop strategies for improvement. Exposure to Rutgers University course work combined with the insight offered by the Academic Coordinator provides participants with a solid foundation for collegiate success. Upon successful completion of the program, participants will be invited to apply for conditional admission into the School of Arts and Sciences. Applications to the Elena Buchanan Transition Program are not currently being accepted. Please visit our website again, or call the main UCC office for more information: 732-445-4181. |
