  1. Can a non-traditionl student (NTS) attend Rutgers fulltime?

    Yes. NTS many times attend fulltime to take advantage of a better financial aid package or feel pressured to get through a program quickly.

  2. When can a student affiliate as a NTS?

    • New incoming students have the opportunity to affiliate with UCC in the Enrollment Pathway.
    • Continuing students have the option to affiliate through UCC if their circumstances change.

  3. Are all NTS 25 years of age or older?

    No. Many of our NTS are 25+, but age is not a sole factor in considering their status.

  4. Can a Veteran student be considered a NTS?

    Yes. Veterans in many cases have significant non-academic commitments precluding them from the traditional academic experience.

  5. What are some examples of non-academic commitments?

    • Fulltime employment (or 30+ hours a week)
    • Primary caregiver to children or elderly parents
    • Head of Household
    • Financially independent (as documented at the Rutgers Financial Aid office)
    • Suffers disabilities (as confidentially documented at Rutgers' Disabilities Office)

  6. How does affiliating with UCC as a NTS impact a student's record?

    There is no adverse impact on a student's record. It is solely for administrative tracking to ensure NTS receive services that meet their particular needs.

  7. What are the benefits of affiliating with UCC?

    UCC is focused on a students' academic advancement. UCC offers support programs and services as well as advocate inside the larger University to help Rutgers achieve the goal of serving the life-long learner.
